Water is Life is the story of a fish in a dried up lake and an old man who pours water into the lake. After the old man, a woman, and then someone else, carries and pours the water, and the movement will continue. The premise of this creation is that human beings have the desire to nurture life in the first place. The life that we nurture here is not our own, but that of the fish. This is a film that shows just that.
It's a film that shows just that, with superb cinematography and effortless direction. However, if you look carefully, you can also catch glimpses of the lake drying up as a result of the water being drawn into the farmland.
The film is both a fable and a beautiful visual poem, soothed by the gentle images. Above all, it reminds us of the importance of perseverance, backed up by love and affection for life.
A powerful emotion will surge inside the viewer, and that's fine. Some will think: "I'd like to visit the land where these people live, I'd like to do the washing of my life".
This film is an artistic film, a tourism film festival, and a film that questions the basics of the festival's theme, the SDGs.

「BREAKING THE CYCLE」は、マレーシアのランカウイ島を舞台に、今の時代に私達が旅をすることでどのように精神を前向きに保つことができるのかについて描かれている旅行記です。
主人公が騒々しい都会での日常から離れ、ランカウイ島の美しい自然や景色、人々との新たな出会いや環境に遭遇し、それによる精神面の成長や喜びを感じていきます。
旅をすることをポジティブに捉えた、新しい持続可能な観光を提案する映画としてふさわしいと感じ、今回旅工房賞に決定いたしました。この映画祭を通して、より多くの方がSDGsや持続可能な観光に対して興味を持ち、それぞれの立場で動いていただくきっかけになればと思います。

This film is a documentary that mainly talks about the changes and difficulties in the tourism industry due to the global new coronavirus epidemic.
In addition to contemporary tourism pollution in Amsterdam, Venice, Iceland, and other cities, the film shows the negative effects hidden in the ease of social media promotion in promoting tourism, as well as the situation of tourism in each country in the wake of the coronavirus.
この作品は、世界的な新型コロナウィルス流行による観光産業の変化と困難を中心に語るドキュメンタリーです。
アムステルダム、ベネチア、アイスランドなど現代の観光公害はもちろん、観光振興を行う上で、ソーシャルメディアにおけるプロモーションの手軽さに隠された悪影響、そして、コロナ禍における各国の観光状況を映画を通じて「今の観光」を一度に知ることができる作品です。

Oasis

【あらすじ / STORY】
Oasis takes the audience on the educational activists Jasper and Rashmita's journey to Darchula and Mt. Api Base Camp during the COVID 19 crisis. Then the COVID lockdown happens in the beginning of 2020 which leaves the duo with nothing to do. The city life starts to take a toll on them and they are faced with a certain realization about what they have been doing. In summary, Oasis is a story that shows contrast of life during COVID in the city and in rural areas while making the audience hopeful that everything will turn out okay with patience, hard work and compassion.

貧困の中生まれ育ったJasperとRashmitaは2015年にネパールで発生した地震の後、子供たちが質の高い教育を受けられるよう支援することに真の情熱を見つける。
彼らの活動はネパールの遠隔ヒマラヤ地域へ行き、そこで教育資源の供給を通して2016年以来3500人以上の子供たちを助けてきた。
1年間の撮影の後、彼らは人、場所、文化、教育などについての映画を作ることでいくらかの利益を得、再び地方のコミュニティに還元することができると気づく。
Oasisはこれまでで最高の作品であり、カトマンズのSBIFFですでにベストナショナルショートドキュメンタリーを受賞している。

This film raises various issues such as what is sustainable, environmental issues, cities and development through the journey to the marginalized communities in Nepal during the Corona disaster and the Sherpas who live next to the danger.
The film has a sense of realism that makes us want to actually experience the activities shown in the video, and it is also timely in terms of the Corona disaster.
I also felt that the theme of matching education and tourism was a new approach.

子供の頃は、メディア・エンターテイメントに非常に興味があり、ステージでいくつかのドラマを演じ、いくつかの功績を残した。
2001年アラブ首長国連邦でキャリアをスタート。
インド映画に出演したり、短編映画の監督をしたりと、私の情熱は今でも続いている。

Several films on the subject of "water shortage" were nominated for this festival, and "RECOGNITION" is a silent film with a particularly good storyline.
While the protagonist's journey elicits laughter through his unique chat, the serious troubles he encounters on his way to the destination cause him to rethink his appreciation of the things he takes for granted in his daily life and the way he treats people.
The way the many foreshadowings are recovered with the strong negative emotion of "regret" is very well composed.
I think this is a work that I would like students to see.
本映画祭では、「水不足」を題材にした作品が複数ノミネートされていましたが、「RECOGNITION」は特にストーリー性に優れたサイレント作品です。
主人公の旅は、ユニークなチャットで笑いを誘いつつも、移動先での深刻なトラブルを通じ、日常で当たり前に接しているモノのありがたみと、ヒトとの接し方を改めて考え直すきっかけとなります。
数々の伏線が「後悔」という強い負の感情と共に回収される様は大変見事な構成です。
ぜひ学生に見てほしい作品だと思います。
